2009 NAFL Summer Meetings

WELCOME BACK!!

To beautiful Vacaville, California or “Cowtown”, for the 20th anniversary of the NAFL!

This will be an extra exciting year since we have been doing it for so long. To begin things we will start with the Summer Meetings. Again we will be voting on-line by using the on-line voting form. The important issue facing the league this year is how do adjust the finances of the league since we are operating with only 12 teams. All owners were given an opportunity to send in proposals and they have been approved by the Commissioner.

Below is a transcript of the 2009 Summer Meeting.

I. INTRODUCTION

This meeting is being conducted to improve things in the NAFL for next years season. All owners will be notified of the events in this meeting and will be given a chance to vote on all changes. The hope is that all owners will participate in this meeting so that this can be a successful league and meeting. All owners will receive the results, next years schedule and any important dates on the NAFL Web site.

Remember that the Voting deadline is JULY 1st, 2009.

Thank you for your time and cooperation.

League Secretary Kevin J. Shaw
Commissioner Keith C. Shaw

II. OLD/NEW BUSINESS

The results from last year were posted on the NAFL Website. To remind owners of last year's Summer Meeting's vote I have included the results from the 2008 voting. Last year we had a very successful year. The biggest change last year was the adding of a new Commissioner. Keith Shaw became the League Commissioner. Kevin still runs the league and website as the league secretary. Keith's job is to ensure that the rules are foollowed and approve transactions. With the change brough stability to the league and less arguements since Keith was an independent voice when ruling over arguments. We had few arguements last year. Another change was the new Waiver Process that was instituted. A few kinks developed but was overcome. We expect owners to still not be familar with the process this year but it seems to work and creates some strategy.

This year we are looking at several new proposals on the slate. After Twenty years owners still want to tweak the game. Some new owners are also getting involved which is good and are bringing some new ideas into the league. I encourage everyone to look at the new proposals with an open mind and determine if the change would be a good thing to the league. Not just to your team. Finnally, voting will only be two weeks this year to allow the league to update the website so vote early.

Finnally, with our 20th year is here which is very exciting. I can not believe we have been doing this for 20 years. We will be celebrating our anniversary all year long. Some of the things you will see in the coming months will include a 20th anniversay logo posted on the website and we will be producing either hats or shirts for all owners. The NAFL West owners will be having the Draft in Reno, Nevada this year and will be partying it down in celebration. The League Secretary is updating the league database and will be publishing the all-time scoring leaders and the all-time wins for all 20 years. League Officers will also be selecting additional players to be installed into the NAFL Hall of Fame. Speaking of the Hall of Fame the League Secretary will be updating that site as well to make room for the new members.

With the discussion over, let the voting begin.....
